SGA Belize: What we do
Strombus Gigas Alliance (SGA) is an international non-government organization whose mission to conserve the Queen Conch (Strombus Gigas) and to promote the sustainable livelihoods of conch fisher folk and their communities.

SGA members are involved in pilot projects for research, development and conservation of the Queen Conch and value added products. Our pilot projects include individuals and organizations in North America, Europe, Asia, Central America and the Caribbean who are committed to promoting a prosperous and sustainable Strombus Gigas industry worldwide from the wasted by-products of the meat harvest.

SGA is also committed to national and international legislative reform that ensures the global trade of the Queen Conch better reflect the long term cultural and economic needs of the families whose livelihood depend on it.

SGA Bahamas
The Bahamas is an associate country developing a branch of SGA, following the same mission and goals as SGA Belize. SGA Bahamas plans to develop projects that assist their local fisher folk and communities.

SGA International
SGA International has been formed to unite other Caribbean nations to take action together as one group for the benefit of local fisher folks and the sustainability of the Queen Conch.
